Current Units:

Math-Just finished out measurement unit (length, capacity, area and perimeter, telling time and temperature.)

We are currently in our geometry unit (identifying polygons, 3-10 sided figures, angles, vertices, line segments, lines, points, rays, and identifying patterns).

Reading-Nonfiction passages (asking and answering questions in nonfiction texts, drawing conclusions, making inferences, finding the main idea, summarizing passages, making predictions).

Social Studies-We finished our Ancient Mali unit and were in the middle of our Ancient Egypt unit. (There are good videos/articles on these unitson BrainPop, BrainPop Jr., Time for Kids, Read Works etc.)

Science-We are currently working on our ecosystems project. Students chose an ecosystem to research (such as ocean, grasslands, rainforests, temperate forest, streams, rivers, desert) and they were identifying elements of those ecosystems (such as the animals that live there, where in the world it is, plants that live in that ecosystem, identifying characteristics on that ecosystem etc.) Students may use books or resources on our school website (www.tinyurl.com/wres-links) to research their ecosystem. They may start building their ecosystem using paper and recyclable materials. Students may start that if they would like.

Writing-Informative writing. Students can start putting their ecosystem research into an informative paragraph. Students may practice this skill with any nonfiction topic they may like to practice researching information, brainstorming, and putting it into a paragraph in complete sentences.
