Suggestion for at home daily instruction schedule

Individual weekly learning plans are being sent home as suggestions to keep your student engaged in learning.  Please contact me with any needs you might have during this time!

20 minutes of reading
20 minutes of Dreambox or math activities
Movement break (Gonoodle.com, Starfall.com Motion Songs, YouTube Just Dance, go for a walk, obstacle course through the house, etc)
Writing activity
News 2 You activity
Sensory break-massage, squeeze, jumping, spinning, push/pull, heavy work
Read sight words (see files and documents)
Coloring page or free draw

**For each activity say "1st work, then break" and give your student a 3-5 minute break to do something he/she really likes.  Once time is up begin the next activity.

Reading:  Read for 20 minutes a day-independently or with someone
              Pick favorite books to read together
              MyOn-thousands of books online (log in through Clever)
              Read alouds online (ex. YouTube)
              Read sight word lists (see files and documents)

Math:      Dreambox (log in through Clever)
              Count objects in your house, ask student to give you a certain number of
              Addition & Subtraction problems (use objects for K,1 to help solve)
              Go over fractions-whole, 1/2, 1/4  (use play doh, food to show fractions)
              News 2 You math sheets
              4th Grade-work on division and multiplication problems, adding/subtracting
                       fractions, finding common denominator

Writing    Draw a picture, label the parts of the picture, write a sentence (or more)
                      about the picture
              Rainbow write-write first and last name (or any words)  in one color, then 
                      trace over with another color 
              Write sight words
              Write/trace ABCs-prompt to start at the top of the letter

How to log into:
There is a link to Clever on the Westridge homepage. Select WEB LINKS from the ribbon just below the school header. Select the Clever tile. If logging in with Office 365, the student will need to enter their PWCS email, (username@pwcs-edu.org) and then their computer password. If you have a camera on your device, they may use their Clever badge. A Clever app is available for iPads. MyOn, DreamBox, Study Island, Wixie and other apps may be accessed through Clever. 

Office 365
Each student may download up to five copies of Office 365. Search for Office 365, select a log in option, then enter the student email and password. 

Students in school on Friday, March 13 came home with login information for several websites as well as their username and password for Office 365 and their Clever badge. If your child was not in school last week, and you need login information, please let me know so I can get that information to you as soon as possible.

Although PWCS is unable to provide instruction or class assignments to students while schools remain closed, ourSchoolDivision hopes that the suggestions for optional learning activities posted here will help parents support student learning until schools re-open. Please remember that use of these materials and participation in these activities are optional and neither grades nor course credit will be awarded.
