We will be moving into our new room in January and I hope to see excitement and also respect for the property. The students are excited about getting back to "normal".
With the holiday store in the rearview mirror and our class winter celebration approaching, I wanted to wish happy holidays to all of you and your families. There will be some fun activities this next week as we rotate the students throughout each classroom to learn new information and the stress is on creativity and ingenuity.

A special shout out to Amir and Sara as they were recognized as the Golden Knights for the first quarter!!! Way to go!
Math: We are continuing our unit on Multiplication and Division. This week the students will learn about division. Please review 0-12 multiplication facts with your students each night!
Reading: We are focusing on story elements (characters, setting, problem, solution, and events). The students will compare and contrast fairy tales.
Writing: The students are learning about opinion/persuasive writing. They'll be designing their own snowman and trying to get others to vote for it!
Science: We are learning about animal adaptations.
3.4 The student will investigate and understand that behavioral and physical adaptations allow animals to respond to life needs.

Social Studies: We will be studying all things GEOGRAPHY! The students will learn about maps, parts of maps, globes, and the continents.
11/4/16 What Are We Learning?
Math: We will begin a new unit about multiplication and division. Be sure to practice the times tables up to 12. We will learn several strategies for looking at multiplication.
Reading: We are learning how to use nonfiction text features such as Table of Contents, glossary, index, captions, and photographs.
Science: We will begin learning about animal adaptations. We are also finishing designing "spider webs" with dental floss and show boxes.
Social Studies: We will learn about how everyone can contribute to their community through service opportunities. We will also discuss American holidays such as Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
Writing: We are working on identifying proper nouns and various types of verbs. We are also working on adding description to our writing. Soon we will move on to opinion writing.

11/4/16 The CoGat and Naglieri tests are coming up soon. Next week we will do some practice tests. The following week will include a portion of 4 days to test.
11/4/16 Veterans Day is fast approaching. Third graders have been practicing a song for the assembly on Thursday. Be sure to practice!
11/4/16 Student-led conferences will happen on Monday. Please remember to have your child come along!
10/12/16 The first Box Top competition ends this Friday the 14. Please send any that you may have at home before then.
10/12/16 What Are We Learning?
Reading: We will take a test on Friday. The students are expected to know how to identify a main idea and supporting details, decide if a passage is fiction or nonfiction, ask "thick" questions, and identify the author's purpose.
Writing: We are learning about common and proper nouns as well as writing about special memories.
Math: We are learning multiple strategies for addition and subtraction. Soon we will move onto finding change from one dollar and from five dollars.
Science: We are learning about food chains and how animals interact in an ecosystem.
Social Studies: We are learning about famous Americans who led our country (presidents) or fought for civil rights.
10/12/16 Operation Turkey is under way. If you wish to donate boxed or canned foods for local people who may be in need, please send your child in with these goods. Thanks!
